I’ve never been one afraid of aging. Not one to have an issue with the number of birthday candles, nor afraid of growing old….that is until now. Even though I still feel 18 and well to be honest probably still act like it, lately the game has been changing. Since I hit my forties I’ve been noticing the grey hairs. Bah! No big deal, just rip those suckers out ~gone, see ya! Those do not bother me….the thing that is getting me down is the wrinkles, yup, pesky lines on the face.
You see I developed an allergy a few years ago, to what we still don’t know, but if I eat this mystery allergen, my face blows up like a balloon. When I say blows up, I mean like HUGE!!! My face stretches so bad for hours. I can take an antihistamine but it literally lasts most of the day. So if you think about how many times this has happened (which is LOTS) and combined with the amount of stretching my face has had to do (TONS), surely it can’t be good.
So I’ve decided to take action. I’ve looked at all the science behind the aging process and why things are happening to me. The fact that the skin loses its elasticity (the ability to stretch and return to normal~ok big issue with the allergy thing!) which results in sagging. So if you combine the elasticity thing with gravity….hello bagging and sagging 😒. Your cells turn over more slowly and your face isn’t as oily anymore so you end up with drier, thinner skin. These are just a few things but I’m thinking they can surely be slowed to a crawl a little (well except for the gravity issue).
One of the things I’ve started to do is make sure I am well hydrated on a daily basis, this in itself is just all over goodness not only for your face but your body in general. I have read that vitamin E oil will decrease and prevent wrinkles around the eyes and while I was looking at all the creams happened to noticed Bio Oil which says it treats aging skin, sounds good. Right next to it was the Exact brand (Superstore) and the ingredients were almost identical at less than half the price, so I went with that.
I also picked out my face cream pretty much the same way. Just standing in front of all the creams reading ingredients and I ended up with a brand called Complex 15 which is light, non greasy and hypo-allergenic. So far so good.
I’ve been using these now for about a month and have noticed a significant improvement in the look of the fine lines on my face. Yesterday I added another new product to my arsenal of goodness. It is from Sephora called Truth Serum by Ole Henriksen. It is a collagen booster with Vitamin C claiming to smooth, brighten and help with the appearance of aging. Now I have only used it twice but WOW~ my skin feels even softer and the smell is AMAZEBALLS!
These few things will not stop me from aging, I’m not that silly but I’m hoping it will lessen the impact and make me feel better every time I look in the mirror.
