Out & About

I walk a lot!  My knee has failed me and requires some medical intervention.  While I wait on the surgical waitlist (which apparently is longer then the list to visit the President) I have been given exercises to do to strength it and told walking is a good idea.

While I walk around I typically have an ongoing monologue inside my head. Things I see and people I pass often fuel the thoughts, which if they were posted telepathically to the blog would be frickin’ HI~larious but alas I forget the majority of them by the time I get home.

Some of my most amazeballs thoughts (that I remember) go something like this:

~Always wear a ball cap.  Not only does the brim save you from walking into those invisible spiderwebs but it also deflects any flying critters from entering your mouth while you’re panting your way up a hill.
~Not everybody is going to acknowledge you when you walk by and that’s Okay! (But seriously, like, helloooooooo…..how could you not at least crack a smile?)
~There is no need to talk to everyone walking their dog when you walk yours.  Sometimes it’s just awkward, so smile and move on.
~Never EVER take a laxitive the night before you decide to do a super long walk.  I’m thinking no elaboration is needed on this point.
~Always, ALWAYS take some form of camera.  The things and moments you will miss are huge…. I love having little reminders of places I’ve been.
~Finally never, ever forget your tunes AND ensure that your headphones are up to snuff before you get  to you destination….nothins worse then having to listen to nature 🙁

Workout playlist 

playlistAs a child I was constantly exposed to different types of music. My mom never cleaned the house without a stack of records on the stereo with the volume tuned way up and my dad’s reel to reel was chock full of some pretty interesting stuff too.

Needless to say I can not walk or workout without some tunes blaring.  I’m sure one day I might be at ease with just listening to nature…..maybe….probably not…yea no.

So if you happen to be in a rut of what to listen to I’ve compiled a list of some of the random plays I heard today on my iPod with a few warm up & cool down songs.  ….enjoy 😀

Body Scrub

I am on Instagram a lot.  Everywhere you look there’s advertising for one product or another.  Two of the most popular these days are the slimming tea and coffee scrub.

I’m not big on the whole “drink this tea, you will shed pounds” kinda thing but who doesn’t love a good scrub?!  I had a wonderful one years ago from Avon but have never seen it since and really miss the softness of my skin after using it.

So while on Pinterest (I’m on there lots too) I see a home made coffee scrub recipe and figured ~hey, I bet this is similar to those pricey mail order ones on Instagram, let’s give it a go.

Mixing together ~ 1cup used coffee grounds ~1TBSP honey  ~1TBSP olive oil.

I put it in a container to use in the shower.  Wowzers!! Man was this stuff ever good!!!!  You do need to give yourself just a little extra time to rinse off however as you literally get coffee everywhere.  The only draw back I would say is that 1) if your shower is a lighter color, it does give a little tinge to the floor and 2) it is only good for maybe two showers as the coffee grounds will go moldy if left in a sealed container.

Of course the best part  of the whole thing was I didn’t need to order it and it only cost me pennies to make.
