Body Shred Program -Review

Once I finished my 28 days of success with the Fitgirls Guide, I started looking for another program. You see I get bored easily so I figured the best way to fend off boredom and routine was to try something different.

Again I turned to Instagram to find a new workout and eating plan. Another one that pops up everywhere was the Body Shred Program. There wasn’t a whole bunch of chatter about it on Instagram (just a lot of advertising) so I went directly to their website to look. It looked promising and a lot of testimonials to back it up. With each review I read, I also stalked their Instagram pages (the ones that had their user names listed). What I did find doing that, was most of these people no longer had active accounts. Those that did looked pretty smokin to begin with. Don’t get me wrong -there were a few that did look as if they needed the program and it seemed to work for them -although it was only a hand full.

Regardless, I decided to test it out for myself and see. The program was twice the price of my newly beloved Fitgirls at $49.97 but it was a “personalized” eating and workout (home or gym) program, so it has to be worth it right? Ummm not really. Firstly I will tell you the positives were- simple meals and harder workouts. I really liked the fact that the workouts got my heart rate way up for the 31 minutes. Go hard or go home right?!

Unfortunately, I would have to say that was about it for my positives. The downsides of my purchase were….. It’s NOT “personalized”. In the questionnaire you fill out they want to know if you have any thing they need to know. As I have a bad knee, I let them know my limitations- to no avail. After I received my workout of many knee exercises and sprinting I emailed.  Not once but twice and never got a response. For the meal plans you get to choose the foods you don’t like (ok so that’s a bonus-ooops ) BUT your breakfast and dinner menu is from a recipe book that they give you (it’s pretty generic). Your meals are constructed on a weekly basis so you can can change things if need be but you enter it on a Friday and you may get it back on a Sunday or Monday or Tuesday….you get the drift. They do state it will take 2-5 days to return but they aren’t super consistent so if you are planning on doing your meal planning for the week on a Sunday you’re out of luck. Really if you just need a program to tell you what to eat I suggest Eat This Much. I just found these guys and it takes the guess work out doing any planning on your part….check them out.

All in all for me I didn’t find it worth my money (remember this is my personal opinion). I decided to cut my loses short on week five of the six week program and go back to the FitGirls for their Fitkini program. Just started that this week so stay tuned for my review on that one.

Fitgirls Guide 28Day Jumpstart -Review

IMG_1365.PNGThe proverbial -New Years Resolution for me this year, like many I’m sure, was to lose a little around the middle. What instigated this all was Instagram. So many fit people ALL-THE-TIME! If looking at women with perky butts doesn’t motivate you to do better/more, I’m not sure what will.

On my trolling towards motivation I came across The FitGirls Guide. There were so many comments and people talking it up, I thought I’d research a little more. Stalking a few of these Fitgirls I notice that there’s nothing I can find where people are saying they don’t like it and since the program is only about $25 why not. What’s the most I could lose except a few inches.

The program comes as an easy to follow guide in a nice little PDF. They give you a complete 28days of exercise and recipes. I really enjoyed it and the community of Fitgirls on Instagram and their support of each other is HUGE.

In short the program is great. The meals are DEElish, workouts are easy to follow and the gals that wrote the program are SUPER funny! However if your looking for a super hard workout you’ll have to modify them a little to kick it up a notch.

So check out the 28day Jumpstart~You won’t be disappointed!

FitBit

At the start of my GF (getting fit) journey I purchased a FitBit Flex to kick start it off.  I researched a lot of  different trackers and this one seemed to be the best for me.  I loved the fact that it came with an iPhone app (I LOVE apps!) and that it wasn’t super huge.  The previous model did have some skin irritation  concerns with people, but I never seem to have issues with anything so I just disregarded that and went ahead and bought it.  It lets you know your steps per day, miles you have gone, calories burned and a sleep tracker.  The sleep tracker *bonus* ~sooooo cool.  I really didn’t realize how little I slept each night.  Well, now I do!  The silent alarm is also a huge win.  I love that it gently vibrates my wrist to wake me.  Only once when I was uber tired did I not feel it.  I’d have to say that all in all I am glad I bought my FitBit (although now they have a better heart rate model) and will probably upgrade eventually.  I’d have to say that the only down side I’ve found is the lack of durability with the wrist band (see photos).  I’ve gone through quite a few.  You are able to wear them 24/7 but it seems to wear down the material quickly where they start to separate at the seems.  Also I really like the lighter color bands but they get so grubby and don’t really clean off very well.  So if you’re looking for a little kick in the butt to get you motivated I’d recommend the FitBit.
